Getting Here

By Car

There are a number of options available to get to Stromlo Forest Park via car.

Visitors are reminded not to leave valuables in their cars as they are responsible for the security of their own vehicles.

Travelling from the South

Drive North on the Tuggeranong Parkway and turn left onto Cotter Road. Once on Cotter road, continue onto John Gorton Drive until you get to Opperman Avenue. Turn left at the traffic lights on Opperman Avenue and continue until you reach Stromlo Forest Park.

Travelling from the North – Option 1

Drive South on the Tuggeranong Parkway and turn right onto Cotter Road. Once on Cotter road, continue onto John Gorton Drive until you get to Opperman Avenue. Turn left at the traffic lights on Opperman Avenue and continue until you reach Stromlo Forest Park.

Travelling from the North – Option 2

From William Hovell Drive, turn into Coppins Crossing Road and follow this onto John Gorton Drive. Continue along John Gorton Drive until you reach Opperman Avenue, turn right onto Opperman Avenue and continue until you reach Stromlo Forest Park.

Using a Horse Float

There is a float parking area at the northern edge of the Park accessible from Uriarra Road about 2.5km west of the front gate of Stromlo Forest Park. The entrance gate here is locked but the combination for the locked gate is available through Canberra Connect (13 2281). There is also a large carpark near the main entrance on Uriarra Road. This is generally locked unless events are being held. To access please call the Stromlo Forest Park staff for the code on 6256 6700.

By Horseback

There are two points where you can access to Stromlo Forest Park on horseback. There is a cavaletti entrance about 1 kilometre up the Mount Stromlo Road which will take you down to Bluegums. There is a marked horse crossing and a cavaletti just west of the corner of Eucumbene Drive and the Cotter Road on the route of the Bicentennial National Trail.

There is also an entrance at west Stromlo between the water treatment works and the cottage.

By Bicycle

The bicycle entrance is located off Urirarra Rd and at the end of the Bushfire memorial car-park. Please be aware of traffic travelling a high speeds on Uriarra and Cotter Rd.

By Public Transport

At this point in time, Public Transport to Stromlo Forest Park is limited. There are ACTION Buses services available to Duffy, a suburb located approximately two kilometres from Stromlo Forest Park.

By Chartered Coach

If travelling to Stromlo Forest Park using a chartered coach, please ensure the coach parks in an appropriate area, allowing other vehicles to travel around it.
