Robert de Castella Cross Country Running Track

The new groomed grass cross country running track circuit at Stromlo Forest Park was officially opened on Sunday 18th November 2007.

The purpose designed groomed grass running track comprises a 2.5 Kilometre loop that can be reduced to 2km, 1.5km or 1km, thus enabling multiple laps covering all distances required for events. It will set a new benchmark for cross-country running in Australia and cater to all levels of runners from school children to international athletes.

Stromlo Forest has long been a very popular training area for many of the Australia's and the world's leading distance runners. In 2003 the devastating bushfire's destroyed the pine forest, but created an opportunity to design and build a dedicated and purpose built cross-country circuit on the slopes of Mount Stromlo.
