Stop, Stand, Speak

The Beginner Mountain Bike Track is 14.8 kilometres and has been designed to meet the needs of the basic Mountain Biker.

The course is aimed at providing beginners and novices with an introduction to Mountain Biking taking into consideration technical skill, fitness and fun.

The Beginner course is for those riders that have little or no experience in off-road cycling or maybe those that have not been on a bike for a while and looking for some fun.

This course is appropriate for children but supervision by an experienced rider is recommended.

Recommended Equipment

A helmet (Australian Standard Certified), mountain bike with tread on the tyres and working front and rear brakes.

Conditions of use

  • Observe and follow all signage placed on the trail at all times.
  • Share the trail with other users.
  • All users must wear a helmet (Australian Standard Certified) at all times.
  • Use appropriate riding equipment including: gloves, enclosed footwear, goggles, kneepads, shin guards, elbow pads and covered clothing and well maintained bike equipment.
  • Trail has been designed as a one-way only trail, follow trail directional markers when riding. Riding the trail in the wrong direction will cause significant damage to the trail and potential injury to yourself and other users.
  • Plan your ride, know the distance and approximate ride time of the trail you intend to ride, take appropriate food and water.
  • Yield to faster riders.
  • Don’t take shortcuts; ride only on the trails provided.
  • Ride within your ability – use the provided alternative riding lines to navigate difficult sections.
  • Riding obstacles are present on the trail, please observe and navigate appropriately.
  • Trail use may be restricted for safety reasons at various times or for special events.
  • Organisers of a planned event may change user procedures at their discretion and must advise all users of these changes prior to their participation.
  • Pedestrians must stay off the trail at all times and only cross with extreme care.
  • Mountain Bikes must only be ridden on approved trails, which have been mapped out by venue management. Work on or the construction of new trails or jumps is prohibited without prior written approval by the venue management.
  • Read and understand the trail gradings illustrated below.
  • Warning: Some users will be travelling at speeds up to 50km/hour, take care.
  • All users are to yield to horses. Never pass a horse without first getting the rider’s attention. When overtaking from behind, call out and ask permission of the rider to pass. A spooked horse is a danger to you, the rider and other users.
  • MTB’s are not permitted on designated equestrian trails. Horses are not permitted on MTB trails. Exercise caution where these trails intersect.
