MOUNTAIN CROSS (4X)

The Glenn Jacobs designed 4X track at Stromlo Forest Park is the same track used for the 2009 UCI World Mountain Bike Championships. Canberra local Caroline Buchanan and fellow Aussie Jared Graves both won the Gold medal on this very track at the World Championships event.
The track boasts a permanent start gate and concrete start ramp and is actually not built on an existing hill, but rather a huge pile (300,000 cubic meters) of dirt which was brought in specifically to create a 4X track.
The track has steadily evolved since it was first completed in 2007 and now offers riders and racers a great variety of line choices to ensure some of the closest and most exciting racing possible.
The track is open year round for riders to enjoy and offers all the features expected from a world class 4X track. The rollers and jumps through the “Bear Trap” section at the bottom of the track are a local favorite and it’s easy to carry speed for all the jumps with the massive berms, rollers and start hill.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Whilst the entire track is roll-able, it is recommended that only competent mountain bike and BMX riders use the track whilst riding an appropriate 4X specific mountain bike with front and rear brakes. Recommend safety equipment includes an Australian Standards full faced helmet, neck brace/spine protector, gloves, chest protector and shoulder, knee, shin and elbow pads. Spectators and riders should use extreme caution if crossing the track at any point.
