The first project supported by our Trail Support Program is construction of a“test track” which will be known as THE PLAYGROUND. The concept is to construct a short trail loop using new and existing trails which encompasses a wide range of mountain bike terrain, features and skill levels. There is a huge need for a dedicated loop such as this within the local riding community. It will offer great loop for riders to test demo bikes, a dedicated skills coaching area for clubs, and serve as a guide for riders who are unsure as to what their ability level is.
The general concept is a short (approximately 2km) loop with different “stations” for different skill sets. Stations would have features pertaining to all aspects of riding such as North Shore, jumps, drops, technical climbing and technical descending features.
A huge thank you to the sponsors of this inaugural project - TREK, Capital Hotel Group, CORC, ONYA Bike Belconnen and Civic, and cre8ive. All money raised through sponsorship of this project has been put toward the development of the test track.
The first section of THE PLAYGROUND is now open and it is AMAZING! Get out there and have a go - feel free to send us your photos as you conquer this first "north shore" style section.
