Picture a bunch of smelly hipp ies on rusty steel beach-cruiser bikes riping through the hills of San Francisco. No helmets, no pads, shirts unbuttoned, their bikes have no gears and only a back pedal brake like your first BMX had. At the time they were just having some fun, but what they were doing would eventually be called mountain biking. Those hippies on beach cruisers are credited as being the world’s first true mountain bikers...

Territory Venues and Events congratulates Makin Trax on winning a 2010 Telstra ACT Business Award and wish them well at a national level.
Makin Trax designs, constructs, maintains and remediates mountain bike, walking and multi-use track networks in Canberra and the region. They do considerable work on the tracks at Stromlo Forest Park.

Punishment served: the inaugural Capital Punishment MTB Enduro turns into a mud fest!
Despite facing cold temperatures and heavy rain that reduced parts of the course
to a muddy quagmire, over 1,500 riders took part in the largest mountain bike
endurance event of its kind staged in Australia, out of close to 2,000 entered.

The Rocky Trail MTB Grand Prix is back at Mt Stromlo on 20 November and we have added an 8 Hour racing option to the traditional 4 Hour event to keep things interesting! The Rocky Trail event centre will be buzzing with music and commentating action, hearty food, coffees & energy drinks will be on offer, and thanks to series supporters there will be heaps of prizes too!

Pierce is 4 years old and has been diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD). CMD is a group of diseases causing muscle weakness at birth. Pierce is a brave young man who enjoys time with his family and friends, he loves chocolate and being a kid.

Draft Master Plan
The Project Team has prepared a Draft Master Plan as the context for the future development of Stromlo Forest Park. The Draft Master Plan was developed with input from community members and interested user groups during the first round of consultation.

Stromlo Forest Park is a shared public facility with designated trails for bike riders, walkers and equestrians. Trails are clearly marked and colour coded and there are specific rules for their use.
